A Raven by KERES

One day I spied a raven,

Soaring over sea,

Then saw it glancing down,

Looking straight at me.

“What a blackened beauty!”

I exclaimed to myself,

"What a sight to behold!”

As it soared above the delph.

The raven heard & dipped its wings,

Glittering in the sun,

Singing a tune long forgotten,

Of doing what I mun’.

So off from there I went,

Ne’er once glancing back,

As I hummed to the raven

Of the darkest black.

Thermodynamics by KERES

This is not the end,

But a cycle that renews.

So take hold of your Self,

And pay your Soul’s dues.

As we spin through Samsara,

I measure Karma,

So please live with Karama,

As you fulfill your Dharma.

For that is the path,

It is your Way ahead,

And I have naught but Patience,

As I collect my Dead.

Each and every debt,

Will be repaid to me,

Each and every life -

I exact my fee.

Then I pick a new wheel,

A new cycle to turn,

Leaving rotten souls behind,

To feel thermodynamics as they burn.

I Linger On by KERES

I have lost before,

I have lost again;

I remember each how,

I remember each when.

But I’ve also come to terms,

With who I am,

And now with each how,

I become better than.

So I continue my march,

Though the journey’s long,

Lifting my head to the skies,

As I sing a dirge song.

For each and every how,

Was a little death,

As you cleaved my soul,

Until you thought me bereft.

But I linger on,

In the darkness of the night,

Looking to sun, moon, and stars,

And the clouds’ ghostly light.

Subsumation by KERES

DSCN1792.JPG

A subsumation

In my veins,

An indescribable sensation

Driving me insane.

What would you do,

If you knew you didn’t matter?

What would you do,

If you saw bloodshed splatter?

Would you get a rag,

And help to clean the mess?

Would you get a pen,

And record, to then obsess?

Would you learn from their pain?

Would live to sing again?

Would it even matter

With subsumation in your veins?

When the Sky is Crawling by KERES

When the sky is crawling

With ribbons of white light,

When its darkest blue

Then turns to darkest night -

That is when you'll see

The truest of your foes;

That is when you'll learn

What nobody knows.

That is when you'll travel

Farther than you knew;

That is when you'll see

That I believed in you.

For in the darkest night

You freed me from my hells,

And though I am Dark Light

I have much to tell.

So now I'll tell a story,

One hidden within me,

As we return to years of glory

From sea to shining sea.

Forever I Will Climb by KERES

And as we spin through time,

I question where we’ve been.

Do you look to the past

To find your Future’s kin?

What if they were,

In that picture in a book?

What if just one glance

Was really all it took?

Could you be reunited

By gazing ‘pon their face?

Would total concentration

Bring them through time and space?

How strong is your will?

Would you bend the Earth to you?

Or do you sit and stare,

Wishing it was all through?

If I could gift you will,

Determination of True Strength,

I would do anything,

And I would travel any length.

For I don’t leave my kin,

Not in pixels nor in time,

And if it takes forever,

Then Forever I will climb.

Speak Infinity by KERES

To know what was,

And what will never be;

To see the future,

And speak infinity;

To go where others,

Have only fled;

To be a mother,

Of the dead;

To seek and find,

What was never lost;

To Comprehend Time,

And all it cost;

To trod behind,

But never catch;

To be defined,

But never matched;

To live with insight,

Of what was not said;

To live in hindsight,

Where others led.

I will go

Where none have been,

And I will lurk,

There unseen.

For never before

Have you contemplated me,

Never before,

Did you see.

Inanimum by KERES

DSCN3072.JPG

A woman at war,

A battle within,

When star signs collide,

I read their sins.

I collect all the guilt,

And seek all the pain,

But what’s left for me,

Is hate and disdain.

So choose your sides;

Choose fast and choose well,

For I see through the lies,

And bullshit they sell.

Those lacking remorse,

And set in their ways,

I condemn

To inanimum days.

The Way by KERES

I’ll write what isn’t written;

I’ll do what isn’t done;

And when nobody listens,

I’ll pay the price of one.

For I can see the future,

As I know the past too well,

And I know the lies of violence,

Are bullshit that they sell.

I sat once by myself,

Rumbling in the dark,

And in that insane instant,

Lightning gave a spark.

It spoke to me of what will be,

For I knew what had already been;

It told me to seek out,

My spirit’s long lost kin.

But as I sought them out,

Each one hid from me,

And finally I realized,

That I’m not meant to be.

A path like this wasn’t trod,

Before that fateful day,

But in their silence I grew stronger,

And learned to pave The Way.

In the Universe's Time by KERES

DSCN2314.JPG

I thought I wrote this all for you.

I was an idiot, through and through.

I wrote it all for me you see:

To break the bonds of my misery.

I can be free;

I am right now.

And I choose to soar -

And won’t worry how.

The gods will provide

The wings that I need,

And the Universe

Will unfurl its deeds.

I’ll soar higher

Than I thought I desired,

And forget all the bullshit

Stuck in the mire.

Free I will be

In body and mind.

Free I will be

In the Universe’s Time.

To Improve Upon Perfection by KERES

To improve upon perfection,

One must find what they do well,

Practice every day,

But it is not necessary to tell.

To improve upon perfection,

Each day try harder than the last,

And through the blood, sweat, and tears,

A better future you will cast.

To improve upon perfection,

Toward heaven one must strive,

And when at last you reach yourself,

Perfection is your drive.

The Shadow's Nepenthe by KERES

A nepenthe for my soul

The hermit brought to me;

Unbeckoned and uncalled for,

But just the remedy.

“Drink my dear,” he said to me,

“And all will soon be well;

I heard your soul calling out

As from grace it fell.”

I took the bottle in my hands

And put it to my lips,

But, Hesitating, as I do,

He guided my fingertips.

The fiery liquid warmed my soul,

And quickened all my thoughts,

“I told you do not fret, my dear;

You think all that you ought.”

And at these words, I saw him now,

And recognized his face:

The other half of my shadow,

That did not fall from grace.

I think I smiled wider,

Than I had done before,

As I filled with knowledge,

I used to have and more.

I remembered, in that moment,

Whom I used to be,

And my future flickered,

Like a light upon the sea

(From the nepenthe’s remedy).

I thanked the hermit for his kindness;

It was nice to see his face,

And I got up with mindfulness,

And put my shadow in its place.

'Pon an Aventine Hill by KERES

processed_20210420_114207.jpg

You'll spy a city

'Pon an Aventine Hill;

One built of bones

Of the victims I've killed.

But don't worry, dear friend,

Take strength, dear heart,

For the blood of the others

Won't keep us apart.

Boson by KERES

processed_20210420_122312.jpg

To be made of flesh

And marred by bone,

To be doomed by none

But forgotten tones,

To breathe the dark

Without a spark,

To be the faze

And feel the stark,

To want for nothing

And have it all,

To breathe in violence

And still stand tall,

To whisk away

The hearts of men,

To feel their souls

Shriveled then,

To be alone

Amongst the world,

To be untold

Fury unfurled.

Skipping Through Time by KERES

processed_20210420_191017.jpg

Life, order, logic -

Ties that bind the mind.

Thinking never lessens;

It only passes time.

But time without true structure,

Thought without true aim...

Will you pass the test,

Or live your life too tame?

A game of the mind

Surpasses sound and thought;

And skipping through time...

Will you reason all you ought?

Destiny Seized by KERES

DSCN1422.jpg

To turn the tides,

And the hands of Fate,

To burn the bridges

And break the gates,

To dance upon

A moon-lit sun,

To glide with wings,

Or be bold and run,

To seek and to find,

To lose and then hide,

To raise your voice

In the eventide,

To behold stars’ glimmer,

And the shift of the sun,

To see a kindness,

Then realize there’s none,

To breathe the air,

To shift with the breeze,

To be and do all -

Is Destiny seized.

Soothing by KERES

processed_20210415_165425.jpg

Soothing with words,

Seething in vain,

Reviewing the past,

Learning from pain.

Finding like minds,

But being alone,

It's hard to be kind,

When you don't know the tone.

So without guidance,

And lost to the fray,

I'll sink into self,

And turn night into day.

Four by KERES

Four needles

Point to the sky,

Four lines,

To hide what we bide,

Four lines,

Eclipsing through you,

Four lines

To see what you’d do.

A Game by KERES

DSCN1290.jpg

“Would you like to play a game?” she asked the boy.

He raised his eyebrows suspiciously at her. “What kinda’a game?” he slurred at her through his lisp.

She held up her hands, palms facing him. “What do you see?” she asked him, ignoring his question.

“Nothin’. Just yer stupid hands,” he answered, frustrated again.

She smiled back at his frown. “Look closer.”

He leaned in, squinting his eyes. “Nothin’ still, lady. Quit wastin’ my time.” He got up off the ground, dusted the dirt from his shorts, and trotted off to his group of gangly friends.

She smiled to herself. They just don’t want to try, do they?

Prometheus Falling, Karma is Calling by KERES

DSCN0580.JPG

On a day as dark as night,

With sun hidden out of sight,

When the shadow of the moon,

Smells of her perfume -

On that day you’ll see,

Then revel full of glee,

That my prophecy rang true -

And men will meet their doom,

For they have lived their lot -

Stealing fire from her spot,

And when it’s given back,

They will know what they did lack…

For stealing from the Gods

Is the Gravest Sin…

And with this new reset,

Man begins again…
